Overview

The Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business is an advanced program that provides individuals with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and their application in a business context. Entry requirements

The Learners must:

  • Hold a relevant vocational and/or academic qualification of at least the level above that of their learners and ideally a minimum Level 3 qualification in his/her own area of specialism.
  • Have access to 100 teaching practice hours during which learners have full responsibility for planning, delivering and assessing specific area/s of the institution’s provision.
  • Minimum core of literacy, language, numeracy and ICT
  • Learners must be 19 years old or older at the beginning of the course

Unit 1 – Corporate and Business Law
This unit aims to develop learners’ understanding of English Corporate and Business Law concepts and principles. The unit will allow learners to apply these concepts and principles to practical situations.

Unit 2 – Business Performance Measurement
This unit aims to develop learners’ understanding of performance management techniques. Learners will compare the systems used in profit-making and non-profit-making organizations. The learners will gain a working knowledge of performance measurement reporting and specialist cost and management accounting techniques

Unit 3 – Financial Securities Markets
This unit aims to develop learners’ understanding of investment theories, securities, and market analysis. The learners will gain an understanding of the key legislation and regulations affecting the financial services industry.

Unit 4 – Audit and Assurance
This aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of both internal and external audit principles. Learners will consider current legal and professional requirements and review the risks involved in the external audit process.

Unit 5 – Business Research Project
This unit aims to develop learners’ research skills, including producing a research question and carrying out independent research using appropriate research techniques. Learners will also analyze research findings, evaluate the research methodology used, and present their research findings.

Unit 6 – Investment and Risk Management
This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of the different trading and investment techniques and consider how these are used in practice. As part of the unit, learners will consider the risks associated with market trading and investment and how these risks can be mitigated.
